Bring the OUTSIDE to the INSIDE

As hunting season approaches, it is a time for excitement and anticipation!
I also look at my scouting or hunting as a shopping trip for items to adorn our hunting camp and or my home. Nature finds are some of the greatest and most unique accessories on the market. Here are a few of my favorite items and decorating ideas to go along with the treasure:
Pine Cones- small ones are fabulous to pick up and put in a wooden bowl to place on a coffee table or a center piece for your dining table. Large pine cones are a REAL treat. These can just stand alone on a bookshelf or as an accent in any room.
Antler Sheds: LOVE em'. As we tool about in our hunting buggy, it is like hitting the lotto when you see these beauties laying on the ground. If it is just a piece of a shed, these are nice to put at the base of a plain large pillar candle...really a nice touch. We have also decorated the exterior of our wooden hunting camp structure with lots of sheds. This past spring a bird built her nest in between the antlers of one shed. It was incredible to see the baby peeps chirping with the antlers as the foundation of their home!
Feathers: WOW! How great is it to run across a colorful and beautiful feather, so light and airy. My grandmother will wash the feathers really good and tie a few together with twine and use as her tool for sealing the edges of her delicious fried pies! Feathers (especially turkey) are so elegant in a mantel or floral arrangement. They add such texture and design. I also enjoy putting feathers on my clothing or placing one or two in the band of my cowgirl hats!
Write in and share your ideas for nature's accessories!
Happy Exploring,
