Weeping Willow Tree Stand

Posted by: kim

My Great Aunt Lucy had a row of weeping willow trees bordering a creek which ran along in front of her house in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  When I was little, I could not wait to go to her house, run down the hill and open the flowing leaf door of the willow and crawl inside to my secret tree house.  How wonderful to be surrounded by such soft gentle leaves blowing in the wind.  I could sit and listen to the creek babble over the rocks for hours.  These trees are my favorite not only for the wonderful memories they provide but the pleasure of watching them is so very peaceful.

When I moved to Florida, I did not see too many weeping willow trees.  We have numerous species of Palm Trees all throughout this tropical area.  When we built our new home last year, I knew one thing for sure...I was going to bring a little Tennessee to Florida.  I planted 4 weeping willows and 2 Magnolias.  Over the past year I watched my willows with great concern.  I thought maybe they did not like the salt air.  Were they going to make it?  And then, like a miracle, they begin to bloom and bloom and flow and flow.  We even have people stop by and say "the willows are beautiful ,we are so glad they made it"

It is so comforting to have my "Flowing Beauties" all around me!

As an adult, I have had the crazy thought that these secret tree houses would be awesome planted strategically at our hunting camp in Georgia!  I could just crawl right in and have a very fashionable, earth friendly tree house!

Plant a tree...it is an enjoyable gift that gives everyday!
